Avian Flu Picks - Update

While the equity markets have been knee deep in meteorology this past week, I've been researching further into the avian flu vaccine opportunities, many of which were set out in my last blog. I've added a couple names and want to provide the updated list here. I still don't have time to describe each pick with the whys and wherefores, so for now, you're on your own for due diligence. A good place to start is to plug the symbol into Yahoo Finance and/or go here for a more scientific list of posts related to the flu and it's consequences.

AVI Biopharmaceuticals.......AVII
Biocryst Pharmaceutical......BCRX
Crucell N.V..................CRXL
Nanoviricides................NNVC
Novavax......................NVAX
Sinovac Biotech..............SVA

Aren't these penny stocks risky?

I am betting on AMAR Amarillo Biosciences as the best "bird flu" stock pick. This company has a market cap of only 11M and is looking to license its low dose interferon to countries to fight the bird flu. So far they have agreements in Malaysia and Turkey. Recent news tells all. This stock is getting popular in Germany too with the recent interest from several European VC firms. Also Japan's Hayashibara owns 32% of Amarillo (OTCBB AMAR)
