Gone

She turned the corner and he was gone.  As quickly, inexplicably, as he entered her life, he was gone. Sudden clash of thunder, gone. The instability, emotion, the anger, the passion, the love, the love, the love. Gone.

He turned the corner and she was gone. The reason for the pain falling on those left behind, gone. Times that will never be recovered, gone. Triumphs of those who loved him, who missed him, melted in the distance.  He had found the one, the life that once flashed by him in a dream.  There were moments, now gone.

They turned a corner and they were gone.  Left behind an empty embrace that once held two years. Memories shared, two paths that became one, then broken apart, now gone.  Rain falls gently on their world.

A

The world was on fire
No one could save me but you
Strange what desire will make foolish lovers do
I never dreamed that I'd love somebody like you
I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you

Allan, these memories are to be savored.

Break ups are difficult, but almost always for the best. Even if you didn't want the relationship to end, would it have been better staying in one knowing the feelings were asymmetrical? Knowing in such a case, it is a selfish act on one part and a coerced/untrue act on the other? Would that be sweet? I don't think so. Such is life.People change.

Such truths may hurt us, but we respect the people we love and love does not ask for anything in return. Just be happy to have been touched by a spirit and hopefully you are a better person today as a result of a learned experience. As the old saying goes: "better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." And before you know it, at a time you least suspect, another person will enter your life. :)
